Our campuses are full of old technology equipment: laptops, desktops, printers, etc. Some of it has value, and some of it is ready for the scrap yard. Getting rid of it is not as simple as throwing it in the trash, though. As Catholics we are called to be good stewards of God’s creation, and that means keeping toxic electronics out of our landfills. There are also major security exposures in disposing of old technology that may have stored confidential data.
To address this need, the Tech Office has established two services for all deanery campuses:
Tech Shop — we sell used equipment to generate cash for our schools. Consumer equipment such as laptops, tablets, and Chromebooks typically go to people in our school communities. Other equipment may go on Amazon or EBay. Send us a list of what you want to sell!
Recycling — we have an arrangement with a local electronics recycler that will pick up equipment for free from your site. They will certify destruction of disk drives to prevent data theft. Contact us for details.
